Chad Allen Ortiz
Chad Allen Ortiz is from Temecula, CA, where he trained vigorously in contemporary, modern, ballet, jazz, and musical theatre. Currently, he resides in Palm Springs, CA and Philadelphia, PA where he is the Educational Director and Male Principal Dancer of Nickerson-Rossi Dance.
Chad's role as Educational Director branches off into the many programs Nickerson-Rossi Dance is established in, such as the upcoming Palm Springs Dance Festival, spring of 2017, and Nickerson-Rossi Dance's residency at "The Armory," a new theater in West Chester, Pennsylvania, that is set to open New Years Day of 2017. Chad's role as Educational Director is connecting dance facilities such as: universities/colleges, high schools, dance studios, and such, to the various programs Nickerson-Rossi Dance offers, like the "uNdeRstanD" program. Mr. Ortiz's focus as an educator is to inspire young artists to train extensively, and retain knowledge through dance techniques, professional etiquette, and new age contemporary movement. Chad is passionate with dance education. Being bi-coastal allows his knowledge to be appreciated and wide spread, and quite frequently, he is commissioned as a guest artist and/or a competitive choreographer.
Chad is very familiar with the competition world as he choreographed numerous works for Youth American Grand Prix, K.A.R., Nuvo, Hollywood Vibe, 24/7, Jump, Art of Movement, and many other competitions. It is said that only 3% of the public see concert dance, and Chad believes it is up to educators and artists alike to inform the public by engaging, inspiring, and igniting the senses of each individual we come across, expanding what people think of dance and creating a beautiful, new perception. Chad performed in NRD's recent repertoire "Past and Present" at the Annenberg Theater, in Palm Springs 2016. He was also commissioned to travel east to perform in Cape Cod's Dance Festival 2014 and 2015, dancing alongside companies such as Martha Graham, American Ballet Theater, Bill T. Jones, Boston Ballet, and others alike. Chad has also worked with The Union Project Dance, where he performed solos both at the prestigious Jacob's Pillow Inside/Outside series and at the McCallum Theatre for the 18th Annual Choreography Festival, leading as the Male Principal of the company.
In addition, Chad was also a company member of The PGK Dance Project, and Compulsions Dance and Theater. Chad was commissioned by Avocado Dance Theatre as a guest artist in their residency at the Old Town Temecula Theater 2016. Chad was also commissioned to set a quartet on Avocado Dance Theatre, which he titled "Static." Another choreographic work Chad has set is titled "Is This What You Want?," which premiered at Michael Mizerany's Dancer Briefs in 2015.
With all of passion, love, and artistry... Chad is blessed by this life of dance he is honored to pursue, and he is incredibly grateful.
